- Tuition = 10%
- Other = 8%
- Endowments = 3%
Q: If the total amount of tuition were tripled and the amounts of all public colleges remained unchanged, what percent of the total funding would be from tuition?
PS: I thought it was 30% at first but then I thought it was actually...
10% + 90%=100%
30% + 90%=120%
20%/120%= x/100% and x = 25% ?????? Please help ... Found 2 solutions by rothauserc, richwmiller:Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 0.62 + 0.17 +0.10 + 0.08 + 0.03 = 1.00
if we triple the tuition, total funding is 1.20 and
0.30 / 1.20 = .25 or 25%
You can put this solution on YOUR website! the total now is $100 or 100%
let's say
$62 dollars from govt
$17 dorm fees
$30 tuition
$8 other
$3 endowments
now for a total of $120
so $30 is 30/120=25%
62/120=51.6% dollars from govt
17/120=14.16% dorm fees
30/120=25% tuition
8/120=6.7% other
3/120=2.5% endowments
