Okay...let's add what he used and then subtract that from the 3 qts for our answer...so
1 pt 9 oz + 2 pt 10 oz =
3 pt 19 oz =
4 pt 3 oz =
2 qt 0 pt 3 oz
Now if we subtract that from 3 quarts, we get
3 qt - 2 qt 0 pt 3 oz =
2 qt 2 pt - 2 qt 0 pt 3 oz =
2 qt 1 pt 16 oz - 2 qt 0 pt 3 oz =
1 pt 13 oz
