You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If a circle has a diameter of 6 inches, what us the circumference rounded to the nearest whole number?
The circumference of a circle is found by using the formula:
C = πd, where π = 3.14, d = diameter of circle and C = circumference.
By the way, the Greek letter π is pronounced pi.
Also, the circumference of a circle is actually the perimeter of the circle, in case you wanted to know.
The diameter of your circle is 6 inches. We know the value of π.
We simply plug and chug. Then we round to the nearest whole number.
This is the same as saying round to the nearest ones place OR nearest units place.
C = 3.14 times 6 inches
C = 18.84 inches
We now round 18.84 inches to the nearest ones place and the answer is
C = 19 inches
