Since logs undo exponents, we're looking for a number that can raise 10 to get to 100. Lets say we start with 10%5Ex=100 and we want to find the value of x, we would use logs.
So log_%5B10%5D%28100%29=x
to evaluate type this expression in your calculator and you'll find
x=2 since 10%5E2=100
