Use the fact that B%5EA=C can be written as log%28B%2CC%29=A
to rewrite that

log%282%2C%28M%29%29+=+log%282%2C%288x-1%29%29

Then since the logs are equal, what they are the logs of are
also equal, so we get

M = 8x-1

so the answer is 8x-1
