Question 762398: there are three vertices of a triangle (-4,5),(-4,-3) and (2,3) give the length of the longest side enter answer as a simplified ratical
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Distance = Square root of(x2 - x1)^2+ (y2 - y1)^2
(-4,5) (-4,-3) Sqrt(-4-(-4))^2 + (-3-5)^2
Sqrt(0)^2 + (-8)^2
= Sqrt 64 = 8 units
(-4,-3) (2,3) Sqrt(2-(-4)^2 + (3 -(-3)^2
Sqrt (6)^2 + (6^2)
Sqrt 36 + 36
Sqrt 72 = 6sqrt2
(-4,5) (2,3) Sqrt (2-(-4)^2 + (3 - 5)^2
Sqrt (6)^2 + (-2)^2
Sqrt 36 + 4
Sqrt 40 = 2sqrt10
Longest side = 6sqrt2.
Hope this helps
