All points equidistant from line segments AB and BC lie on the line bisecting the angle ABC. Now the additional constraint that it must be equidistant from points A and B requires a line perpendicular to AB at the midpoint of AB. The perpendicular line will intersect the line bisecting angle ABC at the point D in step 2
