Question 732125: Help??? Please
What is the distance between the points (3, 8) and (−9, −8)?
I did -9-3& -8-8 and I got 6 for the 1st one than i square it and i got -36 than for the 2nd one I got 0 and i add -36+0=-36 but i did not understand the rest .
What is the distance between the points (7, –6) and (–5, 3)?
What is the distance between the points (–4, –5) and (5, –1)?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! All three problems use the distance formula and you can use the solver at the link below to help practice with it (it will show you step by step how to solve distance formula problems)

Solved by pluggable solver: Distance Formula |
The first point is (x1,y1). The second point is (x2,y2)
Since the first point is (3, 8), we can say (x1, y1) = (3, 8)
So ,
Since the second point is (-9, -8), we can also say (x2, y2) = (-9, -8)
So ,
Put this all together to get: , , , and
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now use the distance formula to find the distance between the two points (3, 8) and (-9, -8)

Plug in , , , and

Answer:
The distance between the two points (3, 8) and (-9, -8) is exactly 20 units

Again you can use this solver
http://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/Length-and-distance/distance-formula.solver
to help practice with the distance formula
Note: to save space, I only did the first problem. Let me know if you need me to do the other problems or if the solver I gave you is enough. Thanks.
