If you are subtracting equal values from equal values, then you are using the Subtraction Property of Equality. However, I NEVER use the Subtraction Property of Equality, and you don't have to either. That's because:
If XY = ZW, then XY + (-RS) = ZW + (-RS) is a statement that expresses the EXACT concept that your statement does, and is true because of the Addition Property of Equality.
If you always use one rule, you can't ever get confused. I never divide either -- I multiply by the reciprocal.
