Question 142123: Factor completely by grouping:
2y+%2B+mx%5E3+%2B+my+%2B+2x%5E3

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Factor completely by grouping:
2y+%2B+mx%5E3+%2B+my+%2B+2x%5E3

Since we cannot factor the first two terms or the last
two terms, we try reversing the two middle terms:

2y+%2B+my+%2B+mx%5E3+%2B+2x%5E3

Now we can factor the first two terms AND the last two terms:

We factor 2 out of the first two terms and factor x%5E3
out of the last two terms:

y%282+%2B+m%29+%2B+x%5E3%28m+%2B+2%29

Notice that %282%2Bm%29 is the same thing as %28m%2B2%29

So we replace the %282%2Bm%29 by %28m%2B2%29

y%28m+%2B+2%29+%2B+x%5E3%28m+%2B+2%29

Now we have a common factor of %28m%2B2%29

So we factor %28m%2B2%29 out

%28m%2B2%29%28y%2Bx%5E3%29
