Perimeter is

Half the perimeter is

Hence

Area is

Substituting:

You can put it into whatever form you like.

By the way, Jogsarithmetic is right, you don't have a square, you have a rectangle. A square with a perimeter of 100 has an area of 625, not 25.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it

Question seems a little strange.

x, the sidelength of the square

system%284x=100%2Cx%5E2=25%29

No correct polynomial for this description --
Perimeter equation means x=25.
Area equation means x=5.
They both cannot be.

Note that the description gave "square". If it were instead, 'rectangle', then something can easily be done.
