Question 1075041: The point P divides the interval joining points A(-1,7) and B(4,2) in the ratio K:L. Write down the co-ordinates of point P in terms of K,L. Hence, find the ratio in which the line y=2x+3 divides the interval joining A(-1,7) and B(4,2)
I figured out the first part of the question, but I'm not sure how to do the second part. Any help is appreciated!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The line for AB will be found as y=-x%2B6 and if this intersects at P with the given line y=2x%2B3, this point P will be found to be P (1,5).

Looking at x-component
K is abs%281-%28-1%29%29=2
L is abs%284-1%29=3

Looking at y-component
K is abs%285-7%29=2
L is abs%282-5%29=3

The ratio K:L seems to be 2:3.
