Is it -3 or 3 ?
The way I read this expression is 40 - (+3x) so the coefficient should be 3.
Isn't the negative sign the SUBTRACTION operation rather than a negative integer?
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Please note: I asked this question earlier and the tutor replied about how she has never heard temperature drop so quickly in nature!!! I did not make this question. It is straight out of my child's math textbook. As illogical as it may sound, the question is targeted at math and not weather accuracy.Would appreciate the answer please!
