Question 253904: Here is an equation i am trying to simplify:
4x^2-3x^2+5x-x^2-1 (where x is a variable and ^2 is an exponent of 2)
i came up with 5x-1 as the simplified form. However, when i substitute a number for x the two equations don't equal the same thing.

Question 256560: I am having a hard time understanding the concept of putting like terms together to solve the following problem, the brackets and parentheses are really throwing me off.
