You can factor this.

Since the product of the 2 terms is zero, you can equate each term individually to zero and solve for c:
c%2B1%2F2=0
c=-1%2F2
c-1%2F4=0
c=1%2F4
Plug each of these answers back in to the original equation to make sure they still hold true.
