Here is the degree ALT-symbol in your notation with 
quotation marks around and triple braces:  %22%C2%B0%22.
Notice the A with circumflex above it that gets printed. %22%C2%B0%22

Here is x² (x-squared) and x³ NOT in your notation.  They seems 
to work OK now, but not in your notation, I use x^2 and x^3 in your
notation.  If I try to use the x² and x³ in your notation I get
%22x%C2%B2%22 and %22x%C2%B3%22
