Question 107460: could you show me step by step how to do this problem:1/x^-4
Also could you tell me if this problem is right:5^-3*5^7=625
I know these are probably easy ones but I always second guess myself.
Thank you for your time.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First one, unsure what you're asking for because there's no equal sign, it's just an expression.
Please re-post.
Second one.
5%5E-3%2A5%5E7=625
Add exponents with same base.
5%5E-3%2A5%5E7=5%5E%28-3%2B7%29
5%5E-3%2A5%5E7=5%5E%284%29
5%5E-3%2A5%5E7=625
Yes, you are correct.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
show me step by step how to do this problem:
1/x^-4
That negative in the exponent means "invert".
So negative-exponent factors that are in the
numerator move to the denominator
and negative-exponent factors that are in the
denominator move to the numerator:
Your Problem:
1/x^-4 = x^4
=====================

Also could you tell me if this problem is right:
5^-3*5^7=625
-------------
Your Problem:
5^-3*5^7
Since the bases are the same, add the exponents to get:
=5^4
Simplify
= 625
