Here is the question and my working so far:
9 - 2x = -8 - 4x (the question)
My attempt:
9 - 2x = -8 - 4x
9 - 2x +8 = -8 +8 -4
17 - 2x = - 4x
17 -2x + 2x = -4x + 2x
17 = -2x
-2x/-2x = 17/2.
I understand that my answer is incorrect and that the correct answer is -17/2, but I'm having trouble working out why this is?

According to math_tutor (887), we can solve equations with factorials with the below method:
"There is no easy inverse function for the factorial (gamma function).
However, given x! = (a value) you can start by dividing by 2, then 3, then 4, etc. When your division produces a value of 1 then that last division is the value of x."
Using this method, I can solve the equation (but just one value):
x!=1
x!/1=1/1
1=1
Therefore, x=1
BUT is there any way (a process) that can solve x=0?

So 0 is not valid for x? If not, what's the process to find/prove out x=0?
