You can put this solution on YOUR website!
0.2(6x-10) = 2.4x
get rid of that annoying decimal, multiply both sides by 10 and you have
2(6x-10) = 24x
distribute the 2 and you have
12x - 20 = 24x
subtract 12x from both sides
-20 = 24x - 12x
-20 = 12x
Divide both sides by 12
-20%2F12 = x
-1.667 = x
:
:
confirm this, replace x with -1.667 in the original equation
0.2(6(-1.667)-10) = 2.4(-1.667)
do the math
0.2(-10-10) = -4
.2(-20) = -4
-4 = -4 a good solution
:
;
:
2x + 0.25 = 0.5(2x - 1.5)
Distribute the .5
2x + .25 = 1x - .75
subtract x from both sides
2x - x + .25 = -.75
Subtract .25 from both place
x = -.75 - .25
x = -1.0
:
See if that works in the original problem
2(-1) + 0.25 = 0.5(2(-1) - 1.5)
-2 + .25 = .5 = .5(-2-1.5
-1.75 = .5(3.5)
-1.75 = -1.75
