You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Write the equation parallel to 3x+2y=4 that passes through (-6,5), in Ax + By = C form
:
3x + 2y = 4
put the equation in the slope/intercept form to find the slope (y = mx+b)
subtract 3x from both sides
2y = 3x + 4
y has to have a coefficient of 1, divide both sides by 2
y = -3%2F2x + 2
slope is -3/2, parallel lines have the same slope, using the given points
x=-6; y=5,
use these values in the slope/intercept equation, mx + b = y, find b
-3%2F2(-6) + b = 5
9 + b = 5
b = 5 - 9
b = -4
the equation then is y = -3%2F2x -4
get rid of the fraction multiply equation by 2
2y = -3x - 8
put it in the standard form, add 3x to both sides
3x + 2y = -8
