You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x-5(-x/4+2)=29
--------
Distribute the -5 factor to get:
------------------------------------
2x + x/4 -10 = 29
----
Combine similar terms to get:
(9/4)x = 39
---------------
Multiply both sides by 4/9 to get::
x = (9/4)39
-----
x = 351/4
-----
x = 87 3/4
------------------

Please help me solve this I would also love to know how to do it so an explanation would be great. Here is the problem: 2x-5(-x/4+2)=29
2x+-+5%28-+x%2F4+%2B+2%29+=+29
2x+%2B+5x%2F4+-+10+=+29 ------- Distributing - 5 to get rid of parentheses
8x+%2B+5x+-+40+=+116 ------ Multiplying by LCD, 4 to rid equation of denominator
13x+=+116+%2B+40 --------- 1st step towards isolating the variable, x
13x+=+156
x+=+156%2F13, or highlight_green%2812%29
You can do the check!!
