You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve
3y + 6x = 4
6y + 3x =-6
multiply the 2nd equation by 2, subtract the 1st equation
12y + 6x = -12
3y + 6x = 4
------------------subtraction eliminates x, find y
9y + 0 = -16
y = -16/9
:
Find x using the 1st equation
3(-16%2F9) + 6x = 4
-16%2F3 + 6x = 4
6x = 4 + 16%2F3
6x = 28%2F3
x = 1%2F6 * 28%2F3
x = 28%2F18
reduces to:
x = 14%2F9

Kind of a pain when they don't have integer solutions, a good dose of "student torment" in this one
