Question 895598: solve the equation for the indicated variable. a^2x+(a-5)=(a+5)x; for x
I tried everything from distributing to just leaving the parenthesis and doing order of operations. I always find that the x cancels out, which, of course, does not make any sense.

solve the equation for the indicated variable.
a^2x+(a-5)=(a+5)x; for x
a^2x+a-5=ax+5x
a^2x-ax-5x=-a+5
x(a^2-a-5)=5-a
x=(5-a)/(a^2-a-5)
