You can put this solution on YOUR website! 500=.75x-(750+.25x)
-----------
Multiply thru by 4 to eliminate fractions
2000 = 3x - (3000 + x)
2000 = 3x + (-1)(3000 + x)
Distribute the -1
2000 = 3x - 3000 - x
Add 3000
5000 = 3x - x
5000 = 2x
x = 2500
Remove the parentheses of -(750+.25x) by changing the signs of
both terms inside the parenthese, getting -750-.25x:
Combine the terms .75x and -.25x as .50x
Get rid of the -750 by adding +750 to both sides
Combine 500+750 and get 1250 on the left, and cancel -750 and +750 on the right.
Divide both sides by .50
divide on the left, cancel .50's on the right
Solution: 2500
