Also could someone please help me with this word problem? As a hurricane moved onshore at Virginia Beach, it's wind speed was measured at 85 miles per hour. As the eye of the storm passed over the beach the wind speed dropped by 65 mph. 30 minutes later the wind speed had risen by 55 mph. What was the speed at this point?
Thank you for your help!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
%28k%2F2%29%281%2Fn%29 is k%2F2 divided by what?
You can simplify it in your mind by saying "I'll
say k%2F2+=+j You can do this kind of substitution
anytime you want in algebra
So, now the new question is
j%2A%281%2Fn%29 is j divided by what?
This is the same as %28j%2A1%29+%2F+n or j%2Fn
or, since k%2F2+=+j it's %28k%2F2%29+%2F+n
-------------------------------------
Call the initial windspeed w+=+85
When the eye passes over the windspeed is w+-+65
Then, 30 min later, w+-+65+%2B+55 or w+-+10
or, 85+-+10+=+75
75 mph at the end
