Solve for X and describe each step:

4x-2=22


Get "4x" by itself, by adding "2" to both sides.

4x-2%2B2=22%2B2

The result from adding "2" to both sides:
4x=24

Now get "x" by itself, by dividing both sides by "4".

4x%2F4=24%2F4

x=6

5x-7=3x%2B2
Move the x's to one side either by subtracting "3x"from both sides OR by subtracting "5x" to both sides. However, if you use "5x" we will have to deal with "-2x", so lets subtract "3x" from both sides.

Now that we got the x's to one side of the equation, we need to move -7 by adding 7 to both sides of the equation.
