Question 807585: Ben and Jerry want to make some ice cream. Ben can pick the strawberry field by himself in 8 hours but doesn't show up until an hour after Jerry starts picking. They both then work and finish picking the field in another 2 hours. If ben had not shown up and Jerry had to work by himself, how long would it have taken him to pick the field?
MY work:
Ben's rate = 1/8. time= 3 hours?
Jerry's rate = 1/x time=2 hours? to do the job together
(1/8)(3)+1/x(2)=1
an equation has to be made and then plugged back in? charts help me the best
