Question 791300: Hi,
I have been stuck on this problem for a very long time and I have no idea how to solve it. I would appreciate it if someone could help me out. The second half of the equation is supposed to be a fraction. The / is supposed to mark the fraction. Here is the problem:
2= -2y-(-6) / 13
Thanks for your awesome help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

2=+-2y-%28-6%29%2F13....first eliminate parentheses in the second part of the equation...recall if minus in front of parentheses, sign inside parentheses will change
2=+-2y%2B6%2F13...now both sides multiply by 13

2%2A13=+-2y%2A13%2B13%286%2F13%29
26=+-26y%2B6
26-6=+-26y%2B6-6
20=+-26y
20%2F-26=y....simplify
-10%2F13=y

if you mean this:
2=+%28-2y-%28-6%29%29%2F13, then you have
2%2A13=+-2y-%28-6%29
26=+-2y%2B6
26-6=+-2y
20=+-2y
20%2F-2=y
-10=y
