Simply substitute -4 in for every x
7x+-+5+%2B+3x+=+6+%2B+x+-+10
7%28-4%29+-+5+%2B+3%28-4%29+=+6+%2B+%28-4%29+-+10
%28-28%29+-+5+%2B+%28-12%29+=+2+-+10
%28-28%29+%2B+%28-17%29+=+-8
-45+=+-8
Since this is not true, x=-4 is not a solution
