Question 736728: simplify
(1 + 2/(x + 2))/(1 + 8/(x - 4))
STEP 2: Multiply the numerator and denominator of the complex fraction by the LCM.
how would I show this on my worksheet?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(1 + 2/(x + 2))/(1 + 8/(x - 4))
STEP 2: Multiply the numerator and denominator of the complex fraction by the LCM.
--------
[x+2+2]/(x+2) / [x-4+8]/(x-4)
-----
Simplify, invert and multiply:
[x+4]/(x+2) / [x-4]/(x+4)
--------
Cancel the common (x+4) factors:
Ans: (x-4)/(x+2)
