Clear of fractions by multiplying every term by LCD of 2
written as 2%2F1

%282%2F1%29%285x%2F2%29-%282%2F1%29%287x%2F2%29=%282%2F1%29%283%2F2%29 


Cancel each of the three 2's in the numerators with the
three 2's in the denominators and all that's left is

5x-7x=3

Combine the two like terms on the left

-2x=3

Divide both sides by -2

-2x%2F%28-2%29=3%2F%28-2%29

and you end up with

x+=+-3%2F2
