Given:8%2F%283X%29+=+4%2F5
You shold multiply through to remove the denominators
Multiply both sides by 5
40%2F%283X%29+=+4
Multiply both sides by 3X
40+=+12X
Divide both sides by 12
highlight%283.333333+=+X%29
X = 3.33333 or 3 1/3

Hello,
For this one 8/3x=4/5:
Multiply both sides by 3/8 to get:
x=12/40 reduced to:
x=3/10
Make sense?

(note: I'm assuming the above is written in your book as:
(8/3)x=4/5. If x is in the denominator then we'll have a different answer.)
