You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A man can walk at 4 km/h or jog at 6 km/h . He is going to a place 30 km away. He can cover half of the distance by walking and the other half by jogging. He can also walk half of the time and jog half of the time. Which method takes less time, and by how much lesser?
:
Find the time walking half and jogging half; time = dist/speed
t = 15%2F4 + 15%2F6
t = 45%2F12 + 30%2F12
t = 55/12
t = 4.458 hrs
:
Find the time,jogging half the time, walking half the time
let t = total time, write a distance equation; dist = speed * time
.5t(4) + .5t(6) = 30
2t + 3t = 30
5t = 30
t = 30/5
t = 6 hrs
