I divided 2x by both of the numbers and I got x=1 is this right?! Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 2x=3x what I got..or did.
I divided 2x by both of the numbers and I got x=1 is this right?!
---------------
Both of what numbers?
If you divide 2x by 3x you get 2/3.
-------
2x=3x
Subtract 2x from each side
0 = x
x = 0
-------------
Dividing both side by 2x -->
1 = 2/3 which is inconsistent.
--> x is undefined or infinity.
You can argue that 2 times infinity = 3 times infinity.
0 fits without arguments, tho.
