Question 681599: Miss C is having a film day. She's going to watch 5 films
The lengths of films A+B together is 3h 20 minutes
The lengths of films B+C together is 3h 05 minutes
The lengths of films C+D together is 2h 20 minutes
The lengths of films D+E together is 2h 00 minutes
Film B is the longest
How long is each film?
I am really struggling with this (my 9 year olds homework!!) is there a key piece of info missing?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You have 5 unknowns, but you only have 4 equations. So you're going to have an infinite number of solutions. If you are only looking at integral solutions, then you won't have infinitely many of them, but you'll still have a lot (I'm counting at least 119 solutions).

So yes, you need one last equation (or some other piece of information).
