Question 665165: I'm trying to help my daughter solve this type of equation. I'm close but not there:
2/3(x-5)=4/9
If you can show me how to solve this one, I can direct her on the rest of her problems. Thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi,
Re: TY, Super! Yes, the idea is to clear out that 2%2F3 in front of the (x-5)
Goal always to isolate x on one side of the EQ
%282%2F3%29%28x-5%29=4%2F9
%283%2F2%29%282%2F3%29%28x-5%29=%283%2F2%29%284%2F9%29
(x-5) = 2/3
x = 5%262%2F3
