You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It should be

2(x+1)+x-6=9(x-6)

Notice the change in red

In a much cleaner look, the equation should be this

2(x+1) = 9(x-6)

-----------------------------------------------------------------
2%28x%2B1%29=9%28x-6%29 Start with the given equation.

2x%2B2=9x-54 Distribute.

2x=9x-54-2 Subtract 2 from both sides.

2x-9x=-54-2 Subtract 9x from both sides.

-7x=-54-2 Combine like terms on the left side.

-7x=-56 Combine like terms on the right side.

x=%28-56%29%2F%28-7%29 Divide both sides by -7 to isolate x.

x=8 Reduce.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Answer:

So the solution is x=8

This means that the first number is 8 and the second number is 2 (since x-6 = 8-6 = 2)
