Goal: isolate the variable on one side of the Equation
3g-6(g-8)=42 ||deal with the parenthesis FIRST
3g - 6g + 48 = 42 ||Combine Like Terms
-3g + 48 = 42 || continue to Combine like terms (subtract 48 from both sides)
-3g + 48 - 48 = 42 - 48
-3g = -6 ||Finally, isolate g by dividing both sides by -3
g = 2
