You can put this solution on YOUR website! 7.1x-2.0=2.2x-10.5
If you hate dealing with decimals, you can get rid of them by muliplying both sides of the equation by 10.
10(7.1x-2.0)=10(2.2x-10.5)
71x-20=22x-105
71x-22x-20=22x-22x-105
49x-20=0-105
49x-20=-105
49x-20+20=-105+20
49x+0=-85
49x=-85
49x/49=-85/49 Round off to where ever your teacher asks you to.
These are a pain to check by hand, but I always double check these on a calculator. Let x=-85/49 in your calculator and you'll see that both sides of the equation =-14.31632653. Therefore, just because we got a crazy fraction or decimal for an answer doesn't mean we're wrong.
