Question 646829: Hi can you help give me the answer to this problem?
1.The cost of electricity in a certain city is $0.08 for each of the first 300 kWh (kilowatt-hours) and $0.13 for each kWh over 300 kWh. Write an equation to find the number of kilowatt-hours used by a family that receives a $43.50 electric bill. (Use x to represent the kilowatt-hours over the initial 300.)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi,
.08*300 = $24
$24 + .13x = 43.50
.13x = 19.50
x = 150kWh
total kilowatt-hours is 450kWh
