You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve for x:
%28%28x%2B1%29%29%2F2+-+%28%28x-7%29%29%2F6+=+3 Subtract the two fractions on the left side using the LCD of 6.
3%28x%2B1%29%2F3%282%29+-+%28%28x-7%29%29%2F6+=+3 Simplify.
%28%283x%2B3%29+-+%28x-7%29%29%2F6+=+3
%283x-x%2B3%2B7%29%2F6+=+3 Multiply both sides by 6 and simplify.
2x%2B10+=+18 Subtract 10 from both sides.
2x+=+8 Divide both sides by 2.
x+=+4
Check: Substitute x = 4 into the original equation.
%28%284%2B1%29%29%2F2+-+%28%284-7%29%29%2F6+=+3
5%2F2+-+%28-3%29%2F6+=+3
%2815+%2B+3%29%2F6+=+3
18%2F6+=+3
3+=+3 Check is ok!

Probably just a mistake in arithmetic
(x+1)/2-(x-7)/6=3 First, Lets multiply both sides by 6 and we get:
3(x+1)-(x-7)=18 or
3x+3-x+7=18 and
2x=18-7-3
2x=8
x=4
Hope this helps. Have a nice holiday season.---ptaylor
