You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5x - 9y = 11
3x + 7y = 19
:
Using the elimination method to eliminate x:
Mult the 1st equation by 3
Mult the 2nd equation by 5:
:
15x - 27y = 33
15x + 35y = 95
---------------- Subtract
0x - 62y = -62
Divide both sides by -62
y = -62/-62
y = +1
:
Find x; substitute 1 for y in the 1st equation:
5x - 9(1) = 11
5x - 9 = 11
5x = 11 + 9
5x = 20
x = 20/5
x = +4:
:
Check solutions in 2nd equation: 3(4) + 7(1) = 19
