Question 629351: Please help me solve these sentences and turning them into algebraic equations.
A recipe uses the following proportions:
There is half as many cups of water as cups of flour.
There are three times as many cups of flour as eggs.
The cooking time is 30 minutes to start and 10 additional minutes for each egg.
They are asking me to: . Choose letters to represent each of the four variables. Write each of the three sentences above as algebraic equations.
so far i came up with this but im not sure if its correct:
x: represents, cups of water. e:eggs.
It is also asking me to:
Write an algebraic equation that tells how to calculate the number of cups of water using the cooking time (i.e., that defines the amount of water in terms of the cooking time only). This equation, when finished, should have only two variables in it.
I came up with this:
1/2x+3 =10e+30
But the equation i came up with just doesnt feel right.
Thankyou, hope you can get back to me as soon as possible(:
