Question 62931: For the equation x-square root x = 0, perform the following:
a) Solve for all values of x that satisfies the equation.
b) Graph the functions y = x and y = square root x on the same graph (by plotting points if neccessary). Show the points of intersection of these two graphs.
c) How does the graph relate to part a?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
For part a only
x+-+sqrt%28x%29=0 can be factorised to get
sqrt%28x%29%28sqrt%28x%29-1%29=0
So either sqrt%28x%29=0 ie x=0
orsqrt%28x%29-1=0 ie x=1
The two solutions must therefore be x=0 and x=1
