Bill has three times more money than Joe's moneyhighlight%28x%29. Joe has $6 more than Randy
Bill's money: 3x
Joe's money: x
Randy's money: (x-6)
Equation: 3x + x + (x-6) = 44, 5x = 50, x = $10
How much does each person have? Bill has $30, Joe has $10 and Randy has $4

r=j-6
b+j+r=44
now you have three equations with three unknowns.
let's substitute and put in only j's
r=j-6
3j+j-6+j=44
5j-6=44
5j=50
j=10
b=3*10=30
r=10-6=4
