2x-9=4x%2B7
======================
First arrange all the terms with x in then on one side of the equation, and everything else on the other side:
2x-4x=7%2B9
Simplify:
-2x=16
highlight%28x=-8%29
Check your answer by substituting -8 for x in the original equation. The equality should hold true if you have the correct answer.
