You can put this solution on YOUR website! Can you please walk me through the steps to solve this problem?
x-1)/(x+3)=(x+2)/(x-4)
--------
Cross-multiply:
(x-1)(x-4) = (x+3)(x+2)
Use FOIL on both sides:
x^2-4x-x+4 = x^2 + 2x + 3x + 6
-----
Simplify:
x^2 -5x +4 = x^2 + 5x + 6
-------
Simplify:
10x = -2
x = -1/5

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Multiply both sides by
Note that when you multiply both sides of any
equation by the same thing, the equation is still
true.
Expand each side
Subtract from each side
Combine like terms
Add to both sides
Subtract from both sides
Divide both sides by answer
