Question 540204: what equations can i use to represent the starting hourly wage if y is the income and x is the hours worked?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Say you earn 7 dollars an hour.

If you work for 5 hours, then you earn 7*5 = 35 dollars

If you work for 10 hours, then you earn 7*10 = 10 dollars

etc...

In general, if you work for x hours, then you earn 7x dollars

So if y is the income, then y = 7x

Now you can replace that 7 with whatever your starting wage is. So you can have something like y = 9x to represent your income at $9 an hour.
