Add +8+ to both sides
+-8+%2B+8+%2B+3x+-+4x+=+-9+%2B+8+
+3x+-+4x+=+-1+
On the left side, +3x+-+4x+=+-x+, so
+-x+=+-1+
Multiply both sides by -1
+%28-1%29%2A%28-x%29+=+%28-1%29%2A%28-1%29+
A minus times a minus is plus, so
+x+=+1+
