You can put this solution on YOUR website!
i needhelp to solve this it says write an equation of the the line through(-2,5)with a slope of 1/4 i tryed typing y-5=1/4(x--2) and i cant figure any thing out no matter hwo many times i read the instrutioncs
.
"point-slope" form:
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
you plugged in the given info:
y-5 = (1/4)(x-(-2))
y-5 = (1/4)(x+2)
distribute the 1/4:
y-5 = (1/4)x + 2/4
y-5 = (1/4)x + 1/2
add 5 to both sides:
y = (1/4)x + 1/2 + 5
y = (1/4)x + 1/2 + 10/2
y = (1/4)x + 11/2 (this is what they're looking for... in "slope-intercept" form)
